Shrimp is one of those classic dishes that never goes out of style. No matter what time of year it is, or when we last ate it, we’re always craving this delicious dish. We’re all about the super delicious butter, garlic, lemon, wine dressing. The flavor is unbeatable, the red pepper flakes have just the right amount of heat, and it’s quick and easy! You are making this for dinner tonight!

Did you know that shrimp scampi originally didn’t even have shrimp? Scampi is actually the broader name for a smaller member of the lobster family, usually Dublin Bay prawns or Norway lobsters. However, because we have an abundance of shrimp in the US, the dish has over time become an almost formulaic way of making pasta with shrimp: usually sautéed in butter with garlic, white wine, and lemon juice. Yum!

  • Can I use frozen shrimp for shrimp crawfish?

    Absolutely! Keeping frozen shrimp on hand will make this easy weeknight meal easier, especially if you buy the pre-peeled and gutted variety! Always thaw before use.

    This recipe calls for pasta, but you can really use any long, thin pasta: spaghetti, angel hair,

  • Wine Substitutes:

    If you don’t want to cook with alcohol for any reason, you can simply substitute the wine for the chicken stock.

  • Are the shrimps spicy?

    We don’t think so, no. It has a pleasant heat without being overly spicy. However, everyone’s tolerance to spices is different. If you know you are especially sensitive to heat, you may want to reduce the crushed red pepper flakes to 1/4 teaspoon.

  • 1 pound flat noodles
  • 4 tablespoon salted butter
  • 2 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 pound shrimp peeled and gutted
  • 1 teaspoon Salt or tasting
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 cup Liquor
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon italian seasoning
  • 2 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley

instruct

  • Cook pasta in lightly salted water according to package directions.

  • Meanwhile, melt butter and olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add garlic and shrimp. Season with salt and red pepper flakes. Stir constantly until shrimp are just barely pink, about 2 minutes.

  • Pour in the white wine to deglaze the pan. Add lemon juice and Italian seasoning and simmer for 3 to 5 minutes.

  • Add cooked pasta to skillet and toss to coat. Sprinkle Parmesan cheese on top and garnish with chopped fresh parsley. Serve immediately.
