Caramel churros waffles start with a fluffy egg white batter whipped for lightness, slathered with butter, dusted with cinnamon sugar, and topped with caramel sauce for a delicious dessert.

Saturday mornings are all about a good breakfast. Weekdays can feel hectic and rushed, and who has time to make breakfast from scratch? But weekends are tailored for homemade waffles, and this recipe is fantastic.

Churro waffle batter is made from scratch for a light and airy waffle with just the right amount of crunch on the outside. It’s really delicious on its own. Smear caramel sauce on your waffles and you’ve got an otherworldly experience. We know this is a bold statement. But these are really good.

  • Caramelized Churro Waffles Breakfast or Dessert?

Yes. They are everything. Okay, this might be a bit of a stretch, but these sure do make for breakfast or dessert. If you’re the type of person who needs a more balanced breakfast, just boil some eggs on the side, add some fresh fruit, and you’ve got yourself a delicious breakfast.

  • Oil and Butter:

The topic of oil vs. melted butter in waffles has been debated for years. You can always experiment and see which you like, but especially in this churro waffle, we recommend sticking with the melted butter you need.

  • Caramel Sauce:

You can find caramel sauce in the baking section of your local grocery store. Common brands you may find are Ghiradelli and Smuckers. Or, if you’re feeling adventurous, you can always make some from scratch!
