I buy Swordfish every time it goes on sale. If I don’t buy it, I must have a very good reason. This is my 5 year old’s favorite fish. That’s right, my 5-year-old son Dexter loves fish. He begs for it. My little brother lives with us in the summer and has never had swordfish before. Dexter is appalled and has a strong need to correct this dire situation. Luckily, Swordfish is on sale. Now, if you haven’t tried swordfish yet, I highly recommend you rectify this dire situation as well. It’s a great steak version of fish that’s meaty, flaky, mild, and simply fantastic on the grill.

So what does my little brother think? I’m pretty sure he’s also in love with Swordfish. He swallowed it! We divided 2 lbs of swordfish among 4 people. That’s some full tummies. Dexter eats as much as we let him eat. My brother did the same thing. You’ll love those puppy eyes looking at food and only wish you’d give them extra treats. Forever fish!

Grilled Swordfish with Cilantro Lime on a White Plate

Time to do it: 20 minutes
yield: Serves 4 (1/2 lb fish per person, so a decent portion)

raw material

2 (1 pound) swordfish steaks
3 limes, juiced
2 TB olive oil
1 tsp salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 cup chopped fresh cilantro
1 lime, quartered


1. Pour the lime juice and olive oil over the swordfish steaks. Season with salt, pepper and half the coriander leaves.

2. Preheat an outdoor gas grill until smoking. Grill the fish for 5-7 minutes per side, until it flakes easily with a fork. Actual grilling time depends on the thickness of the fillet.

3. Sprinkle remaining cilantro over each steak and serve with lime wedges.
