  • How do I control the spice level/heat in the Cilantro Lime Shrimp Tacos?

Some people like it hot, some don’t. It’s easy to adapt this recipe to your own personal taste preferences. For those who like heat, this recipe (as written) is a good medium heat. To lower the spice level, reduce or omit the red pepper flakes in the cilantro-lime dressing and reduce or omit the serrano peppers. To increase the spice level, use a spicier ground pepper, or double the serrano and red pepper flakes.

  • Can you use precooked shrimp?

Yes, you can! Most grocery store seafood counters have precooked shrimp, which is really convenient. Skip the step that involves cooking the shrimp and just toss the precooked shrimp with a little sauce. This will yield cold shrimp tacos. If you want it warm, heat it gently in a pan until hot.

  • How much juice is in 1 lime?

Limes vary in size and juiciness. On average, one lime yields about 2 tablespoons of lime juice. When picking limes, squeeze them lightly. The firmer they are, the less juice will be in them. Roll them on the countertop with the palm of your hand before juicing to make it easier to release the juice from the fruit.

  • Dried cilantro vs. fresh cilantro:

We call for a lot of cilantro in our sauce recipe, and dried cilantro really doesn’t give the same results. You’ll want to stick to the recipe as written and use fresh cilantro in your tacos.

  • Storage Instructions:

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in a skillet on the stove over medium-low heat until heated through.
