This recipe is exactly what we remember as kids. There are certain recipes we can always look forward to at Grandma’s house. They’re reserved for special occasions, and we can even choose our favorites for birthday dinners. While there are some favorite options, always ask for the beef and noodles every chance you get. While in some ways our tastes have changed over time, one thing hasn’t—we love a thick, creamy sauce over a large serving of noodles. Once you make this, we know it will become a favorite with your family too!

Beef options in Classic Beef and Noodles:

We used sirloin steak in this recipe and it was great! Honestly though, you can use almost any cut of beef – stew, rib eye, tri-tip, steak, even ground beef will do!

wine:

Wine is an optional but highly recommended ingredient. It adds extra depth to the dish, and the alcohol should cook out while it’s simmering.

Noodle Options:

Beef and noodles are traditionally served with egg noodles. We grew up eating noodles made by our grandmother! However, you can really substitute regular pasta if desired.

Add plugin:

This dish is great on its own, but you can always enhance it by adding sautéed mushrooms, frozen mixed vegetables, or even some shredded cheddar cheese. Just add them when you add the cream.
