Tiramisu is a very simple, classic Italian no-bake dessert. It contains layers of espresso-soaked finger biscuits, mascarpone custard, whipped cream and cocoa powder. Appetizer!

We are very picky about tiramisu. This is one of those desserts we like to order, we had high hopes but were ultimately disappointed as it was never as good as we had hoped. We really should stop trying, especially when we love this recipe so much and it’s so easy to make! We were lucky enough to have access to the best tiramisu, which helped us develop this recipe. The layers are just perfect, you absolutely must make this your next chance!

coffee:

If you’re not a regular coffee drinker and don’t have coffee at home, you can always grab an espresso at your local coffee shop! If you’re avoiding caffeine, you can always use decaf.

Alcohol Options:

We’re making the non-alcoholic tiramisu, but you can add up to 3 tablespoons of dark rum to the cream mixture and 3 tablespoons to the espresso mixture.

muffin:

You should be able to find muffins at most grocery stores, but we’ve come across some stores that don’t have them in stock. If you can’t find them, you can always order them online. Alternatives include sponge cake, pound cake, or shortbread.

Can I make Decadent Tiramisu eggless?

Absolutely! You can skip the first step of adding the eggs and sugar and just use homemade whipped cream. If omitting the eggs, make sure to use the full 1/2 cup of sugar when whipping the heavy cream.

Mascarpone substitute:

Traditional tiramisu must use mascarpone, but if you can’t find it, you can use cream cheese instead. If you do, the taste and consistency will suffer. Whichever you use, make sure it’s full fat. Use low-fat mascarpone or cream cheese for a runny custard.

Note in advance:

Tiramisu can be made 2-3 days in advance. Just keep it in the fridge until you’re ready to eat!
