Easy Baked Chicken Drumsticks have the juiciest meat and crispy skin. We’ve perfected the 4 flavor options to ensure there’s something for everyone, and with prep to dinner time in 45 minutes or less, this recipe is kid- and adult-friendly alike!

We have a little love/hate thing about dinner. No matter how many times we make it for dinner, it keeps coming back day after day. We absolutely love to cook and certainly eat, but sometimes it’s hard for us to really put in the effort and try to throw together a good meal. Door Dash, anyone? Well, honestly, this recipe is as easy as Door Dash. Considering trying to get everyone in the family to agree on where to eat and decide what to order, we found these baked chicken thighs easier than takeout! It’s super easy to prep and clean up, and it tastes absolutely amazing!

Are chicken legs the same as chicken legs?

Drumsticks are just part of the leg, made up of drumsticks and thighs. You can always use whole chicken thighs in this recipe, if desired.

When are Easy Baked Chicken Thighs ready?

Chicken thighs take about 25 minutes to cook through. You’ll know they’re safe to eat when they reach an internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit.

Chicken Cut Options:

You can also use any chicken you like. Chicken breasts, chicken thighs, and even wings can all be delicious with this recipe. You will have to adjust the cooking time accordingly. Always cook chicken to an internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit.

Air Fryer Instructions:

Preheat air fryer to 400°F. If your air fryer doesn’t reach 400 degrees, preheat to the hottest setting. Grease the air fryer basket and place the seasoned chicken thighs in it. Make sure the basket is not too full and there is 1/4 inch of space around each drumstick. Cook 18 minutes, flipping halfway through. Once they reach an internal temperature of 165 degrees, they are ready to eat!

Storage and Reheating Instructions:

Baked chicken legs are best eaten fresh. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. Reheat in oven preheated to 350°F until heated through.

raw material

  • 10 drumstick
  • 5 tablespoon butter

Basic Chicken Rub:

  • 2 teaspoon chili
  • 2 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Black pepper

  • Preheat oven to 400°F. Lightly coat a 4-sided baking sheet with nonstick spray. Arrange chicken thighs on prepared baking sheet.

  • In a small mixing bowl whisk together all listed seasonings. Sprinkle evenly over chicken. Rub on and under skin (optional).

  • Spread 1/2 tablespoon of butter on the top of each drumstick, the meatiest part. The butter will melt the entire meat and skin, keeping the meat juicy and making the skin crispy.

  • Bake in the oven for 25-30 minutes, until the internal temperature of the chicken reaches 165°F.

Cajun spiced:

  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground white pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika


Zesty Tex-Mex:

  • 2 limes, juiced (about 1/4 cup)
  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 tsp salt


Indian Flavors:

  • Juice of 1 lemon (about 1/4 cup)
  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 2 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon minced ginger
  • 1 teaspoon curry powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika


Drizzle the chicken with the juices (if desired). In a small mixing bowl whisk together all listed seasonings. Sprinkle evenly over chicken. Rub on and under skin (optional). Proceed to step 3 of the recipe.
