Is it healthy to eat cod?

There are two types of cod in the store, Atlantic cod and Pacific cod. Both work well in this recipe. But Pacific cod will get you thicker and bigger fillets. Both types of cod are a great source of heart-healthy omega-3 fatty acids. They’re also high in lean protein and vitamin B-12. Cod is known to be slightly high in sodium, but overall it’s a very healthy choice if you eat it in moderation. Overall, cod can be an excellent addition to your diet if eaten in moderation.

How do you bake cod?

Baked cod is easy, but if you can, cook the cod in a cast iron skillet. If you still want to bake cod, preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and lightly grease a baking sheet. Add the seasoning and butter mixture to the cod. Bake in preheated oven for about 10 minutes. Actual cooking time depends on the thickness of the fish. The fish is done when it flakes easily with a fork.

How long does it take to bake cod in the oven?

Cod cooks very quickly in a 400 degree oven. If your oven is preheated, it should only take about 10 – 12 minutes, depending on the thickness of the fish. Expect 25-30 minutes for the cod in a 350 degree oven and 13 to 20 minutes in a 375 degree oven.

Is cod high in mercury?

Storage and Reheating Instructions:

Cod is best eaten fresh. You can store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in oven preheated to 350°F until heated through.

  • 4 part cod
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1/4 cup softened butter
  • 2 tablespoon Freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon all purpose flour
  • 3 clove garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 lemon Juiced
  • extra lemon slices or wedges for serving

  • Preheat oven to 400°F and lightly grease a 9×13 baking pan.

  • Place the cod fillets in the prepared baking dish. Season the fish with salt and pepper.

  • In a small bowl, whisk together the butter, Parmesan, flour, garlic, basil, onion powder, Dijon mustard, and lemon juice.

  • Top each fillet with a tablespoon of the butter mixture.

  • Bake in preheated oven for about 10 minutes. Actual cooking time depends on the thickness of the fish. The fish is done when it flakes easily with a fork.
