  • Which Oats Are Best for Oatmeal Pancakes?

Oatmeal pancakes can be made with instant oats (instant oats) or old fashioned rolled oats. Instant oats have almost no texture, and you probably won’t even notice they’re there. Oatmeal will have more texture in pancakes. We do not recommend steel-cut oats for pancakes as they can have an unpleasant chew.

  • Can I use whole wheat flour in this recipe?

Yes! Whole wheat flour can be used interchangeably in this recipe. Just keep in mind that using whole wheat will make the pancakes denser. You can use part whole wheat for a little fluffiness.

  • Can I use oat flour in this recipe?

Yes, for pancakes based entirely on oatmeal, you can use oat flour in this recipe instead of all-purpose flour. This will change the overall texture of the pancake, but it will still be delightful and delicious. To make your own oatmeal flour at home, simply process oats in a blender or food processor until crushed into a flour mass.
