“Garlic Bread” Baked Potatoes has all the flavor of your favorite garlic bread in one easy baked potato dish. Simple and delicious!

Whenever we make garlic bread for our guests, they simply rave about it. The ultimate garlic bread recipe, anyone know? It’s always gobbled up, no matter who we make it for! Some even refer to it as “crack” bread. So we’ve added all of our favorite flavors to garlic bread to create these delicious Garlic Bread Baked Potatoes. You will really fall in love with them!

Now, we don’t actually eat potatoes very often in our family. Our family lives in Idaho (the country of potatoes), so it seems a little ironic that we don’t eat potatoes very often. Kids are often hesitant to eat them, so we came up with this recipe because we knew it would be something they would love. Who can resist when it tastes just like garlic bread?

  • Potato Options for Garlic Bread Baked Potatoes:

    Our favorite is the Yukon Gold potatoes in this recipe. We have also used red potatoes and they really work, but the Yukon gold potatoes are still our favorite.

  • Can I use margarine instead?

    Margarine is simply not a good substitute for butter, especially when baking. We recommend sticking to the recipe and using real butter.

  • Can I use garlic powder instead of fresh garlic?

    We finished it in a pinch, but it was nowhere near as flavorful as fresh garlic. You can always try them on your own, but we think you’ll find they simply aren’t garlicky enough.

All the garlic bread flavors you love in an easy baked potato dish. I call them Garlic Bread Baked Potatoes. Simple and delicious!

  • 8 medium sized potatoes Yukon gold and red work well
  • 2 tablespoon olive oil
  • salt and pepper
  • 4 tablespoon butter
  • 5 clove garlic
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon oregano
  • 1/2 cup shredded fresh parmesan cheese


  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Scrub the potatoes and cut them into bite-sized pieces.

  • Spread the potatoes on a baking sheet. Drizzle with 2 tablespoons olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Bake in preheated oven for 30 minutes.

  • Prepare the garlic butter mixture by combining the butter, garlic cloves, basil, and oregano in a food processor until everything is pureed and lightly whipped.

  • After 30 minutes of baking, remove the potatoes from the oven and spread the butter mixture on top. Stir to coat them all. Return them to the oven for another 15 minutes.

  • Check them and if they are done, top with Parmesan cheese and return them to the oven for another 5 minutes to let the cheese melt a bit. Your actual cooking time will depend on the variety of potatoes you have and how large you cut them. Serve hot.
