It’s easy to make delicious homemade naan bread. This traditional Indian flatbread can be easily made at home using simple ingredients and a skillet or grill.
What would an Indian feast be without the delicious Naan? We loved our Strawberry Lassis and we were to die for the Chicken Tikka Masala, but let me tell you… this meal was made by Naan.
Naan is traditionally made in a Tandoori oven. We recognize that most home cooks don’t have a tandoori oven at home, so our recipes use the stovetop. Another way to cook naan is to use a grill. This adds an extra smoky element to the naan, more reminiscent of the authentic way of cooking naan over fire in a tandoori oven.
Grilling Instructions:
Heat an outdoor grill to high heat. Brush one side of the dough with melted butter. Place butter side down on the grill. Spread butter on top. When air bubbles appear, flip dough over (should only take 1-2 minutes). Cook the other side for another 1-2 minutes.
Naan Seasoning:
Garlic Naan – Add 2 teaspoons of minced garlic to the dough mixture. Or add 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder to melted butter for a brushing coating.
Onion Naan – Add 1 teaspoon of onion powder and 2 teaspoons of chopped or dried onion to the dough mixture.
Cinnamon Naan – Add 2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon to the dough mixture. After cooking, sprinkle the top with a 1:1 mixture of brown sugar and cinnamon.

Reheating and Storage Instructions:
Store leftovers in plastic zip-top bags on the counter or freeze in freezer-safe zip-top bags for up to 3 months. To reheat from frozen, preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Place frozen naan directly on the grill. In just 1 to 2 minutes, your scones will be warm and ready to eat. Want to turn off the oven? Thaw on the countertop, then heat in a skillet on the stove over medium-low heat until heated through, flipping once to cook through on both sides.
