Homemade Cheese Balls are a must for any large gathering. This is one of our dream appetizers. It just doesn’t make sense that mixing such common fridge and pantry items could create something so delicious, but we did. It’s the ultimate savory snack, but can be made irresistibly sweet with our favorite flavor variations. We love that it doesn’t require any special equipment, just a bowl and spoon to make, but you can go ahead and make everyone think you’re a kitchen guru. We won’t say it.

Leek Substitutes:

Chives are hard to find and always insanely expensive. You can always substitute scallions.

bacon:

We always cook bacon in the oven and really can’t go back to the stovetop method. If you’re cooking fresh bacon for this recipe, we highly recommend the oven method! If you’re looking for a shortcut, you can buy precooked bacon already crumbled!

Nuts in Homemade Party Cheese Balls:

Are you a nut fan? Adding toasted pecans to a coating of bacon and chives is great. try it!

Flavor Variations:

Stick to the original bacon ranch, or try the Pina colada with cranberry orange white chocolate cheese balls. They are all delicious! You can’t go wrong!

Service suggestion:

Our favorite is the buttery biscuit next to the cheese ball. Salty or sweet, it doesn’t matter. They pair with everything! If you want a mix, try graham crackers or Nilla wafers with sweet cheese balls.

Cheese balls with biscuits.

Storage Instructions:

Store leftover cheese balls in the refrigerator, tightly wrapped in the same plastic wrap. It should last up to 4 days.
