Homemade tartar sauce is bright, full of flavor and so easy to make! If you’re craving fish and chips, you can’t forget the homemade tartar sauce on the side!

You may be thinking, “Why should I make When can I get tartar sauce from the store? After all, it’s only $4. ’ We’re here to tell you that store-bought tartar sauce isn’t very good. That’s okay, it’ll come in a pinch, but it’s not comparable to the homemade version. Trust us, it’ll be worth it, and with very little effort!

There’s a lot of variation out there, and we’ve intentionally kept this super simple and basic, no fancy ingredients needed. Tartar sauce is a must for fish and chips, and you don’t want to miss out on these delicate flavors. Don’t cut corners here, you want fresh squeezed lemon juice and good Dijon mustard.

  • Shouldn’t capers be in tartar sauce?

    We’ve kept this recipe super basic, but if you like capers in your tartar sauce, you can add 1-2 tablespoons of drained capers.

  • Is Tabasco sauce optional?

    Tabasco sauce adds a wonderful flavor to this dish, and we highly recommend giving it a try. If you’re really not a Tabasco fan, you can ignore it.

  • What do I dip in tartar sauce?

    Tartar sauce is known to go with fish and chips. If you haven’t tried it, you must! You will thank us later. It can also be eaten with fish sticks and other fish dishes.

raw material

  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon Sweet Pickle Relish
  • 1 tablespoon chopped white onion
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon dried dill
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 3 to 4 Dash Tabasco Sauce Elective

instruct

  • In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, relish, chopped onion, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, and dried dill.

  • Season with salt and pepper.

  • Add Tabasco sauce, if using, and toss to coat. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
