Classic Italian Orzo Pasta Salad with Homemade Vinaigrette and Mini Pepperoni. This traditional American pasta salad is great served with orzo pasta.

Pasta salad is a classic American dish, despite the sneaky mention of the word “Italian” in the title. It can be found at potlucks and picnics all over the United States throughout the summer. It’s usually made with bottled dressing and spiral noodles, but today I’m putting a little modern twist on this classic dish. Orzo pasta is used to give it a fresh flavor, and a homemade dressing keeps this pasta nice and clean.

You really can’t go wrong with pasta salad. This particular recipe features all of my favorite treats, including mini pepperoni and fresh mozzarella. I tell you, mozzarella makes all the difference. It brings a fresh and clean flavor to the salad.

This dish is perfect for potlucks and picnics. As part of National Picnic Day, I’ve also rounded up some more awesome picnic recipes from my favorite blogging friends. Scroll down to the bottom of the post to see all these delicious recipes.
