We love the spiciness and cheese here. Oh, and bacon. Put these three things together and you’re sure to end up with something truly delicious. This bread will not disappoint! It’s easy to make, packs heat, is full of cheesy flavor, and… bacon. All kinds of not loving? You should definitely use a good quality baguette for this recipe. You don’t want a thin, hard baguette. You want the kind that is roomy and filled with soft bread. Of course, you’ll be ripping it all off, but this will give you the best stuffed bread.

This recipe calls for cooked crumbled bacon. My favorite way to cook bacon is roasting. It’s very simple and doesn’t require me to look after it at all. Perfect bacon every time!

Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil. Arrange the bacon strips in a single layer, placing them as close together as possible so that a full pound of bacon fits on one baking sheet. Place the baking sheet in a cold oven and set the temperature to 400 degrees. Bake for 15 minutes. Check your bacon to see if it’s done. Continue to bake until the bacon reaches the desired crispness, a total of 20-25 minutes depending on the thickness of the bacon cuts. Remove bacon from baking sheet with tongs, then transfer to a plate or tray lined with paper towels to drain.

Spice Levels for Jalapeño Popper Stuffed French Bread:

Jalapenos can definitely bring some heat to this recipe. If you are sensitive to spices, you can reduce the heat by removing the seeds, or simply reduce the overall amount of jalapeños used.

Storage and Reheating Instructions:

This recipe is best served warm, however, it does store in the refrigerator without getting too soggy. You can reheat leftovers in the microwave, or wrap in aluminum foil and heat at 350 degrees for 5 to 10 minutes.
