Moist cinnamon apple bread is made with applesauce for extra flavor. This quick and easy bread is ready in the oven in less than 10 minutes!

This Apple Quick Bread is very moist. Many quick bread recipes use vegetable oil to keep the bread moist, but this adds quite a few calories and a lot of fat. Instead, this recipe uses applesauce for a lighter version that’s just as moist. Plus, even more delicious apple flavor!

The baking time is so long, why is it called fast bread?

The term quick bread is a bit of a misnomer. It certainly doesn’t refer to cooking time, as most quick bread recipes take about 1 hour to bake, if not more. It refers to the time it takes to prepare the dough for baking. Since quick breads don’t use yeast to rise, they don’t require any proofing time, so they go “quick” to the oven.

Unsweetened Applesauce vs. Sweetened

This recipe calls for unsweetened applesauce. If you’re trying to use sweetened ones, you may need to cut back on the extra added sugar, or your bread could end up being very sweet. Use unsweetened applesauce for best results and complete control over your bread.

What kind of application should I use?

This recipe uses green Granny Smith apples. Why? Granny Smith apples are tart and balance the sweetness of the bread nicely. Granny Smith apples also bake well without becoming mushy, making them ideal for baking bread.

When preparing apples, first peel and core can use it Peeled and cored slicer Or simply peel with a knife or potato peeler, then cut off the core. Be sure to cut your apple slices very small. I hate having chunks in my bread. I keep my pieces to 1/4″ or smaller.

  • 1 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 3 big egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 3 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 3 cup green apple peeled, cored, chopped


  • Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Lightly grease 2 loaf pans.

  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the applesauce, eggs, and vanilla. Add sugar and brown sugar and stir until combined.

  • Add the flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon and stir until just combined, then stir in the apples.

  • Divide batter between the two prepared pans. Bake in a 300 degree oven for 90 minutes.

  • Remove pan from oven, let cool 10-15 minutes, then remove bread from pan. Cool completely on a wire cooling rack.
