Some people may not know much about the design of bundt cakes and why there is a hole in the cake, but bundt cakes have been popular since the 1950s. There is no common recipe for Bundt cakes, just about common shapes and designs. Whether you’re a chocolate lover or not, we’re sure you’ll love this best chocolate cake ever.

Grease your pan:

You want to make sure to grease and flour your bundt cake pan thoroughly. With all those ridges and designs, you’ll be amazed how easily the batter sticks to the sides! Another popular option among home bakers is to use homemade “miracle” pan release, which is a mixture of flour, vegetable oil, and shortening that is then brushed onto bundt cake pans.

Pan Dimensions:

Bundt pans come in a variety of different sizes and designs, so be sure to note the cup size on the pan. Not sure what size your pan is? Fill it with water using a liquid measuring cup and measure as you go. Once you get to the point where it’s about to overflow, you’ll know how big your pan is. When making bundt cakes, you want to fill the pan about 2/3 full. This recipe is designed for 10-12 cup bundt cake pans and will yield 8 cups of brownie batter.

Oven Variations in Baking:

This recipe should be baked in the oven for 45-50 minutes. However, the doneness of the cake is more important than how long it has been in the oven. All ovens are a little different from each other, hot or cold, with or without a fan. It’s best to use the recipe instructions as a guide for approximate baking times, but don’t worry if your cake is ready sooner or takes a few minutes. You want to bake your brownies until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. For a truly accurate baking experience, we highly recommend using an oven thermometer.

A Whole Chocolate Cake with Chocolate Ganache

  • butter and flour for spreading and dusting the pan
  • 2 cup all purpose flour
  • 2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 big Egg
  • 1 cup warm water or coffee
  • 2/3 cup cheese
  • 1/3 cup sour cream
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Chocolate Ganache Glaze

  • 6 ounce semisweet chocolate roughly chopped
  • 2/3 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon corn syrup

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 10-12 cup skillet with butter. Sprinkle with a little flour or cocoa powder, then pat off the excess.

  • Combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl until combined.

  • Add eggs, warm water, buttermilk, sour cream, oil and vanilla. Beat with a hand mixer on medium speed until smooth. This should only take a few minutes.

  • Pour batter into prepared pan. Tap the pan on the counter a few times to let air bubbles escape.

  • Bake in a 350 degree oven for 45-50 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  • Cool on a wire rack for 15 minutes, then turn out to a rack to cool completely.

Chocolate Ganache Glaze

  • Add chopped chocolate to mixing bowl. Pour the heavy cream into a small saucepan and bring to a simmer over medium heat.

  • As soon as the cream starts to boil, remove it from the heat and pour over the chocolate. Let stand for 5 minutes until the chocolate is completely melted.

  • Blend until smooth. Once smooth, stir in the corn syrup. Drizzle over cooled cake.
