Has anyone else ordered a Greek salad at a restaurant and only got a lettuce salad, a few olives, and feta? What a disappointment! Traditional Greek salads do not include lettuce, but are based on cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, olives and feta cheese.

  • Can I add other vegetables to Greek salad?

    While the vegetables above are considered the traditional way to prepare Greek salad, you’ll find some other common vegetables: sliced ​​bell peppers, pepperoni, radishes, and more!

  • Fresh vs. bottled lemon juice:

    Freshly squeezed lemon juice is always best, especially in freshly made salad dressings. Whenever lemon zest is going to shine in a recipe, you need to use fresh juice.

  • What variety of cucumber should I use?

    The type of cucumber you use depends only on your preference! Any cucumber will do, so whether you like English cucumbers, mini cucumbers, or regular cucumbers, they’ll all work here.

Greek Salad

  • 1 english cucumber cut into pieces
  • 1 pint cherry or grape tomatoes cut in half
  • 1/2 Moderate Shallot thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup Kalamata Olives all or half
  • 1 cup feta cheese diced or shredded

dressing

  • 1/4 cup Extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoon red wine vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt or tasting
  • 1/4 teaspoon Black pepper or tasting

instruct

  • In a large bowl, stir together cucumbers, tomatoes, red onion, olives, and feta cheese.

  • In a small mixing bowl, make the dressing by whisking together the olive oil, lemon juice, red wine vinegar, oregano, salt, and pepper.

  • Pour dressing over salad and toss until evenly distributed. Serve.
