This classic fajita recipe uses boneless skinless chicken breasts, cooked whole and sliced, along with sliced ​​onions and bell peppers. You can use any color or color combination of bell peppers.

In this recipe, we let you make your own quick fajita spice blend for complete flavor control. You can easily adjust the heat of the spice mixture by reducing or removing the red pepper flakes.

Can I substitute a packet of fajita seasoning for the spices in this recipe?

Can I use chicken thighs instead of chicken breasts?

You can substitute boneless skinless chicken thighs for chicken breasts in this recipe. Chicken thighs take longer to cook, so you will need to increase the cooking time. Actual cooking time will depend on the size and thickness of the chicken thighs. We do not recommend using skin-on chicken for fajitas.

Fajitas are traditionally served on small flour tortillas. Sour cream, fresh cilantro, avocado, salsa or guacamole are great toppings for fajitas. Fajitas are a complete meal on their own, but for an extra side, try Mexican rice or Mexican street corn salad.

Storage and Reheating Instructions:

Fajita Seasoning

  • 2 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

Chicken Spring Pancakes

  • 4 Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts
  • 2 tablespoon olive oil divided into
  • 3 big bell pepper slice (multiple colors preferred)
  • 1 Moderate Shallot slice
  • 2 clove garlic chop up
  • 1/4 cup lime juice (about 2 limes)
  • 12 small Flour Tortillas service for something


  • In a small bowl, stir together cumin, paprika, onion powder, salt, and red pepper flakes. Season both sides of the chicken breasts with half of the seasoning mixture, saving the other half for later.

  • Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Cook chicken in skillet 5 to 7 minutes per side, until chicken is cooked through and reaches an internal temperature of 165°F.

  • Remove the chicken breasts from the pan and set aside to rest.

  • Add the remaining 1 tablespoon olive oil to the skillet and heat for a minute, then add the diced bell pepper and onion.Saute until vegetables are crisp, 5 to 7 minutes

  • During the last two minutes of cooking, add the remaining half of the seasoning and minced garlic. Cook for another 1 to 2 minutes.

  • Cut the chicken breasts into long strips and return them to the skillet with the vegetables.

  • Drizzle with lime juice and toss to coat. Serve over warm tortillas. Serve plain or topped with sour cream, cilantro, guacamole, or salsa.
