We recommend using the canned braised salsa and being mindful of the spice level so you don’t end up with more than you can bear and enjoy.

Storage and Reheating Instructions

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Reheat in a skillet on the stovetop over medium-low heat or in the microwave in 30-second increments until heated through.

  • 3-5 pound Boneless Pork Butt Roast
  • 2 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 2 tablespoon sea ​​salt
  • 1 tablespoon Black pepper

  • 16 ounce salsa sauce
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Cumin Elective

Slow Cooker Instructions

  • Place the pork butts in the bottom of a 6-quart slow cooker. Sprinkle garlic, salt and pepper over pork.

  • Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 6 hours. Drain at least half of the fat and juices.

  • Pour the sweet and spicy sauce mixture over the pork and cook for another 1-2 hours, until the pork shreds easily.

Instant Pot Instructions

  • Sprinkle the garlic, salt, and pepper over the entire roast. Pour sweet salsa mixture over seasoned pork. Place in an electric pressure cooker or Instant Pot.

  • High pressure cook for 60 minutes, then natural release for 15 minutes. Then, switch the release valve to the exhaust position. After the steam stops, remove the lid. Add additional time if roast is larger than 5 lbs. Scoop out excess fat with a spoon.

  • Preheat oven to 225°F. Place roast in a 5-7 quart oven-safe pot with a lid, or use a roasting pan and cover with aluminum foil later. Add the pork roast to the pan, then toss all over with the garlic, salt, and pepper.

  • Cover or cover tightly with aluminum foil. Bake at 225 degrees for 6 hours. Pour the sweet salsa over the pork, cover, and cook for another 1-2 hours, until the pork shreds easily with a fork. Spoon out about half of the drippings. Chop and mix with juice in a saucepan.
