Irresistible marinated steak is served with browned gnocchi for a quick and easy family favorite.

Steak and potatoes go together like peanut butter and jelly, cookies and milk, pasta and meatballs, Superman and Lois Lane—well, you get the idea. This is an irresistible combination. What we didn’t like was how long it took to cook these potatoes, especially considering how quickly the steak was cooked. Years ago we decided to try gnocchi instead of potatoes and have never looked back. We all love quick and easy weeknight meals, and this is one of our family’s favorite meals.

Steak Options:

The best steaks for this recipe are sirloin, ribeye, New York steak, and tenderloin. Most importantly, you want your steak to be evenly cut into bite-sized pieces so that it cooks quickly and evenly.

Gnocchi is a type of potato dumpling – a traditional Italian pasta dish. You should be able to find it in the pasta aisle of your local grocery store.

Irresistible marinated steak is served with browned gnocchi for a quick and easy family favorite.

raw material

  • 1 pound sirloin steak or sirloin
  • 2 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 2 pound Dry Packed Gnocchi
  • 2 tablespoon butter
  • 2 clove garlic broken
  • 1/4 cup Freshly grated Parmesan cheese service (optional)

  • Cut the steak into bite-sized pieces. Trim off excess fat or tendons. Marinate the steak in a gallon-size resealable plastic bag or in a shallow bowl.

  • Add lemon juice, olive oil, Worcestershire sauce, vinegar, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir to coat, cover or seal, and refrigerate. Marinate for 1 to 8 hours.

  • Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat.

  • Cook gnocchi in boiling water according to package directions. Drain and set aside.

  • Meanwhile, using tongs, transfer half of the steaks to the skillet, reserving the marinade. Some liquid is fine, but you don’t want to steam your steak. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the steak is charred and browned. Remove from the skillet, set aside, and cook the remaining half of the steak, making sure not to overcrowd the meat. Return the previously cooked steak to the skillet.

  • Add the butter and crushed garlic to the skillet with the steak. Let the garlic toast for 1 minute. Add the gnocchi and fry for 3 to 5 minutes, until the gnocchi is lightly browned.

  • Sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese (optional) while hot.
