Curried Red Shrimp is an easy and delicious dinner recipe. Naturally healthy, this red curry recipe is made with Thai red curry mixed with shrimp and served over rice.

Red curry is really easy to make! You start with red curry paste, which you can find at any local grocery store. From there, combine it with some veggies and spices and a can of coconut milk for a creamy (and naturally vegan) dish.

You’ll simmer it for a while, then add the shrimp and serve it over brown rice with some extra herbs on top. It’s a great meal prep option and is delicious even as leftovers!

  • Which is spicier, red curry or green curry?

    Green curry is traditionally spicier than red curry. The green curry is very spicy, the red curry is still a bit spicy, but not as spicy as the green curry. If you want to make your red curry spicier, you can add red chilli flakes!

    The difference between green curry and red curry is the chilli used in the curry. Red curry is less spicy than green curry because the chilies in red curry are also not too spicy. However, red curry is spicier than yellow curry.

  • How does Thai red curry taste?

    Red curry is a little sweet and a little spicy. It’s a savory flavor, so it’s great with shrimp and chicken. Serve it over brown rice for a delicious meal! If you’ve never tried red curry, I definitely recommend it!

    We love a good prawn curry, but if you don’t eat seafood, you can always substitute prawns for pan-fried tofu or chicken breast cooked in the sauce.

Shrimp Marinade

  • 1 pound large prawns Peeled and gutted
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea ​​salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon chili
  • 2 tablespoon lime juice

red curry paste

  • 2 tablespoon coconut oil
  • 1 medium sized onion Chopped
  • 1 orange bell pepper Chopped
  • 1 yellow bell pepper Chopped
  • 4 clove garlic minced
  • tablespoon freshly grated ginger
  • 2 tablespoon red curry paste
  • 1 teaspoon chili
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 2 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 15 ounce can ketchup
  • 13.5 ounce can full fat coconut milk

for serving (garnish)

  • salt and pepper to taste
  • fresh cilantro and shallots for garnish

  • In a small bowl, toss the shrimp with the salt, pepper, paprika, and lime juice. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 10-15 minutes.

  • While the shrimp are marinating, heat the coconut oil in a medium skillet for 1-2 minutes. Add the onion and bell pepper and cook for 2 or 3 minutes, until the onion is soft and translucent. Add garlic, fresh ginger, red curry paste, paprika, turmeric and coriander. Stir and cook for another minute.

  • Add tomato juice and coconut milk, stir over medium heat and bring to a boil. Stir occasionally for about 5 minutes. Add marinated shrimp and cook 2 minutes more or until shrimp are pink and cooked through.

  • Sprinkle cilantro over rice.
