These chicken nuggets are simple but a delicious, moist chicken nugget that adults and kids alike will love. They are the best grilled chicken nuggets ever!

These chicken nuggets use real chicken breasts, so you know they’re much higher quality than that mysterious pile of stuff you found on your drive-by. Dip them in butter and roll into a delicious breadcrumb mixture with cheese. Yes, cheese. It makes everything better! If you’re looking for a lower-fat option, you can use buttermilk (or a buttermilk substitute) instead of butter. Buttermilk will give the nuggets more of a fried chicken flavor.

Can you double this recipe?

Looking to feed a future crowd or make some easy freezer meals? Good news, this recipe can easily be doubled, tripled or even quadrupled. All you need is a bigger mixing bowl and more baking sheets. Double all ingredients. The cooking time will remain the same.

How many chicken nuggets does this recipe make?

The number of chicken nuggets you get from each chicken breast depends on the size of the chicken breasts as well as the size of each chicken breast. We found that on average we get about 40 chicken nuggets.

Can I freeze these and make them later?

You can easily make these ahead of time and freeze them right before baking for a quick and easy freezer meal. Prepare the chicken pieces as directed, breading them and placing them on a baking sheet. No need to bake, just put the baking sheet in the freezer. Transfer them to a resealable plastic freezer bag after freezing. When you’re ready to eat, just pop them back on the baking sheet and bake in a 400°F oven for 30-35 minutes. These nuggets will keep for 1-2 months in the refrigerator.

  • 3 to 4 Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts trim and cube
  • 1 cup plain bread crumbs
  • 1/2 cup Freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoon dried basil
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 cup salted butter melted

instruct

  • Preheat oven to 400°F. Lightly grease one or two baking sheets.

  • In a small mixing bowl, whisk together the breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, basil, oregano, and salt.

  • Working one at a time or in small batches, dip the chicken pieces in the melted butter to coat, then transfer to the breadcrumb mixture to coat. Place on prepared baking sheets, leaving at least 1 inch between each piece.

  • Bake in the preheated oven, 20 to 25 minutes, until the chicken is cooked through and no longer pink in the center, or until the internal temperature of the chicken reaches 165°F.
