I am a huge fan of crab. I could eat it every day for the rest of my life and be happy. This is my favorite shellfish and my favorite seafood (probably tied for number one) so you know I mean it when I say I have the best chilli crab dip recipe ever! This dip is perfect.

Make sure you are using real crab in this recipe and not imitation crab. Imitation crab is an inferior product made from cheap fish chunks. Real crabs make all the difference. You can buy fresh chunk crabs at the seafood counter, or they usually buy frozen canned crabs in the seafood section. Now, this is not what you usually think of as canned crab. The refrigerated canned crab is still a quality product and I am always satisfied.

A great way to use your smaller slow cooker is for dipping sauces. Seriously, guys, it makes throwing a party so much easier by having everything planned out a few hours in advance and having a hot dip ready to actually keep the heat going. This dip is spicy and delicious. Red bell peppers add vibrant color and bright sweetness.

  • 1 pound lump crabmeat
  • 4 ounce cream cheese soften
  • 1 red bell pepper Seed and Dice
  • 1 chili minced
  • 1 to 2 clove garlic minced
  • 1 lemon Juicing (4 tbsp)
  • 2 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon mustard powder
  • 2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

  • Whisk everything together in a mixing bowl.

  • Transfer to a lightly greased 1 to 2 quart slow cooker.

  • Cook on high for 2 hours, or on low for 3 hours.

  • After cooking, the dip will keep for up to 2 hours in the slow cooker on a warm setting.
