Kettle Chips are delicious. We had to buy multiple bags at the grocery store each week because everyone in the family chewed on them. Once we learned how to make them, we could never go back to the store to buy them! The freshly fried kettle chips are excellent and cannot compare to the store bought ones. Some things are worth the extra effort, and homemade kettle crisps top the list. You might want to make them while the kids aren’t home to make sure you get your fair share, otherwise these will be gone in 5 minutes!

How to Slice Potatoes for Homemade Kettle Chips:

A mandolin is the best way to get evenly thin potato slices. You can also use a food processor or a knife, just be careful to slice them into the thinnest possible slices.

Potato:

You want to make sure to use russet potatoes. They are higher in starch and are best for freshly fried kettle chips.

seasoning:

You’ll be making more seasoning than necessary, so don’t feel bad if you don’t use it! Not all seasonings stick together, so more is better than less.

You can use vegetable, canola, or peanut oil.

  • Wash the potatoes. Thinly slice the potatoes with a mandoline, knife, or food processor, placing them in a bowl of cold water while slicing.

  • Heat oil in a heavy-duty skillet until oil reaches 350°F.
